Get the look

You can steal the stars’ Emmy Award style in your size

We’ve scoured the Emmys red carpet for the most glamorous looks of the night, and now we’re going to show you how to get the look…

Following another sweep of Hollywood awards at last night’s 69th Primetime Emmy Awards celebrating excellence on the big and small screens, it seems Hollywood still favours an unrealistic representation of everyday women with a disproportionate number of winners and nominations being from a narrow range of smaller dress sizes.

Our five-year study analysed all nominated actress from the Oscars, Golden Globes, BAFTAs Film and TV awards to reveal just 10% of women of UK average dress size 16 or more were nominated and even less have won (9%). Add this to the fact there hasn’t been a size 16+ leading lady in the Oscars in five years and that comedy categories favour larger women, at 10% of nominations for women of dress size 16+ compared to just 7% being given the opportunity to play dramatic roles, and the picture is bleak.

However, we believe everyone should look and feel like a star, and until Hollywood steps up its game, here’s our pick of the best dresses at last night’s Emmys with our bespoke ‘get the look’ suggestions to shop these must-have styles.
