navabi: What gave you the idea to set up Style in Curve?
Chloe: I set up Style in Curve officially in August last year, but had the idea for a while. I realised that there were so many styling platforms for straight size women, but none – in the UK – for plus size women. Nothing was specifically for us, so I thought it was about time a service was there for women that needed it. I also thought about women with anxiety, or other conditions which mean they can’t/won’t leave the house to see a stylist in person. This kind of service should be available for everyone, that’s why I was adamant that the core of the work I do would be online.
navabi: How does it work?
Chloe: A client will email me asking for styling help for an event she has, a holiday, a special occasion – anything! We would talk through her needs – via email, phone, Skype whichever she preferred, and she would fill in my StyleSurvey which helps me get to know her needs and wants better. I’d then propose one of my three (primary) services which are:
Outfit Finder – This is for someone looking for that one special outfit but can’t quite seem to find it. Maybe it’s for a wedding, birthday or just something to feel great in – I’ll find it! Cost: £25
Trend Edit- This edit features two or four boards all focused around that seasons trends, the client would receive six full outfits, including accessories and styling tips on how to wear each look, and mix pieces from each outfit to work together. I also do this service but more generalised to suit the client, for the same price of £60 for two boards, and £110 for four.
Wardrobe Restyle – This service is for the woman looking for a complete wardrobe overhaul. Each board would focus on her as an individual, split into the occasions she’s in most. For example – workwear, gym wear, loungewear etc. Cost: £220
When her boards are ready, I email them over with a breakdown of each look and why I chose each element. I add all of the links to each outfit so she can shop her edit in full, whenever she likes. As it’s all online, she can even come back to the boards and my tips as often as she needs – a definite plus! I also pop in some exclusive discount codes, one being from navabi!
navabi: What do you love most about the process?
The most rewarding part is receiving great feedback. There’s nothing better – when I’ve worked on a board and feel really confident that the client will love the looks I’ve created – to then hear back from her that she’s bought everything and can’t wait to put together her looks. Taking any anxiety or worry about the ‘what to wear’ dilemma is definitely the most rewarding part!
